The floors are no longer properly clean, the kitchen gets forgotten and questions go unanswered: many companies in Zürich eventually consider switching their cleaning company. The biggest worry is almost always the same – that a gap opens up between the old and the new provider and nobody cleans the office for a few weeks. With careful planning, this can be avoided. In this post, we show step by step how to switch your office cleaning without any interruption.

When it makes sense to switch cleaning companies
A single bad day is no reason to switch. But if the problems keep recurring, a new provider is often an easier solution than endless complaints. Typical signs are:
- Agreed tasks are regularly skipped, for example the kitchen, glass doors or washrooms.
- Constantly changing staff who do not know the rooms and routines.
- No fixed contact person and long response times to questions.
- Unclear billing or services that no longer fit the office, for example after a move or as the team grows.
Step 1: Check the notice period with your current provider
Before you cancel, take a close look at the existing contract. Check the notice period, the termination date (for example only at the end of a month) and the required form, such as in writing by letter. Count backwards from the start date you want with the new company: the old provider’s last visit and the new provider’s first visit should follow on seamlessly. Ideally, only cancel once you have the new provider’s quote and the start date is fixed.
Step 2: Draw up a scope of services
A switch is the perfect opportunity to set out clearly what should be cleaned. A simple scope of services (Leistungsverzeichnis) helps the new provider prepare the quote and helps you check the work later. Record which rooms are cleaned and how often, which tasks are weekly and which only monthly, who refills supplies such as soap and paper, and at what times cleaning may take place. Photos of the rooms via WhatsApp make the assessment even easier.
What office cleaning includes
The exact scope is agreed individually. Our office cleaning in Zürich usually includes:
- Dusting and damp-wiping workstations and surfaces
- Vacuuming and damp-mopping floors
- Cleaning the kitchen or kitchenette
- Cleaning toilets and washbasins
- Emptying bins
What is not included
- Tasks not listed in the scope of services
- Cleaning on Sundays
- Special work such as a comprehensive deep clean, unless agreed separately
What determines the price
Every office is different, which is why we prepare an individual quote. The main factors are:
- Floor area and number of rooms
- Cleaning frequency
- Number of toilets and kitchens
- Condition of the rooms at the start
- Preferred cleaning times, for example outside office hours by arrangement
Step 3: Handle the key handover properly
Access to the premises is a sensitive point when switching. Have your current provider return all keys, badges and access codes, and record the return in writing. Check whether alarm codes or access permissions should be changed. Then hand over access to the new provider, again with a short receipt. That way it is always clear who has which keys.
Step 4: Start with an initial or deep clean
If dirt has built up over months, regular maintenance cleaning is often not enough on the first visit. A one-off initial clean or deep cleaning (Tiefenreinigung) creates a clean starting point for regular cleaning to build on. Whether this is necessary can be judged well from photos or a short on-site visit.
Step 5: Review after the first month
After about a month, you should take stock together: is everything being done according to the scope of services? Do the frequency and times fit? Are there areas that need more attention? A short conversation or walk-through is usually enough. Any adjustments are then added to the scope of services.

Frequently asked questions
How far in advance should I plan the switch?
That mainly depends on the notice period of your current contract. Get the new quote early so that you can cancel on time and plan a seamless start date.
Is a deep clean always needed when switching?
No. It makes sense if the rooms have not been cleaned thoroughly for a long time. Based on photos, we can judge whether an initial clean is needed.
Can cleaning take place outside office hours?
Yes, cleaning in the evening or outside office hours is possible by arrangement. We are closed on Sundays.
What information helps for a quick quote?
Address, approximate floor area, preferred frequency, preferred start date and 2–3 photos of the rooms. An existing scope of services is also helpful.
