Clean windows make a room instantly brighter – and dirty blinds become obvious the moment you lower them. If you want window and blind cleaning in Zürich, the fastest way to get the right quote is to have the key details ready from the start. In this post, we explain which information and photos we need and what to keep in mind when taking pictures.

Windows and blinds as part of your cleaning
At HouseHelper, we clean windows, frames and blinds as part of our cleaning jobs – for example during home cleaning, move-out cleaning or deep cleaning. Window and blind cleaning on its own, without other work, is available on request.
The information a quote needs
1. Number and type of windows
Count the windows in each room and note whether they are standard tilt-and-turn windows, large glass fronts, balcony or patio doors, skylights or windows with glazing bars. Large glass surfaces and windows with glazing bars take considerably more time than a standard window.
2. Inside, outside or both
Let us know whether only the inside or also the outside should be cleaned. It is important to know whether the windows open inwards so that the outside can be reached safely.
3. Frames, rebates and window sills
Should frames, rebates and window sills be cleaned too? After winter or after building work, the rebates in particular are often very dirty.
4. Type of blinds
The effort varies greatly between types of blinds. Please tell us which kind you have:
- External slatted blinds (Lamellenstoren / Rafflamellenstoren): many individual slats that are cleaned one by one – very common and the most time-consuming.
- Roller shutters (Rollladen): a closed surface made of plastic or aluminium profiles, cleaned while lowered.
- Awnings: fabric awnings on a balcony or terrace – please mention and photograph them separately so we can clarify in advance what is possible.
- Shutters or insect screens: please also list these separately.
5. Access and height
Which floor is the flat on? Is there a lift? Can all windows be reached from the floor or with a normal ladder? For stairwells with high windows, skylights or conservatories, we definitely need this information in advance.
Photo guide for an accurate quote
Two or three good photos often replace an on-site visit. Here is how to do it:
| Photo | What it should show |
|---|---|
| Room overview | The entire window front of a typical room, so the size and number of panes can be seen |
| Blinds | Blinds half lowered, so the type and level of dirt are visible |
| Frame and rebate | Close-up of an open window with frame and window sill |
| Special cases | Skylights, high windows, conservatory, awning or hard-to-reach spots |
| Outside view (optional) | The façade from outside, if the outside should be cleaned |
Take the photos in daylight and, if possible, without backlight. Send them via WhatsApp together with your location and preferred date.

Frequently asked questions about window and blind cleaning
Do you clean only windows, without any other cleaning?
We usually clean windows and blinds as part of a cleaning job. Window cleaning on its own is available on request.
Is an on-site visit needed?
Usually not. With the details from the checklist and 2–3 photos, we can estimate the effort well in most cases.
Do you clean the outside of windows on upper floors?
Yes, as long as the windows open inwards and the outside can be reached safely. We do not clean windows that can only be reached with a lifting platform or scaffolding.
Which blinds take the most work?
External slatted blinds, because each slat is cleaned individually. Roller shutters are usually done more quickly.
